“The City of St. John’s is proud to be a supporting partner of the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier, which was a major success,” said Mayor Danny Breen. “The City made a $250,000 contribution to the sporting event which resulted in very good economic return for our city. Thank you to all the partners and individuals who worked together to bring the Brier to St. John’s.”
The 2017 Tim Hortons Brier hosted at Mile One Centre is excellent example of the value of hosting sporting events and what it can do for a community. The Brier provided a platform to showcase the City of St. John’s to the rest of the world. St. John’s was the talk of the sports world for a ten-day period in which TSN helped to highlight the unique culture and beauty of our destination. Over 1.13 million Canadians tuned into TSN to watch the final match.
