STEP St. John’s Board Member Receives CAAWS National Recognition

The City of St. John’s Deputy City Manager, Community Services, Jill Brewer, has been named one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Sport and Physical Activity for 2013 by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sports and Physical Activity (CAAWS).
Since moving to St. John’s 29 years ago Mrs. Brewer has made many contributions in the City to support sport and recreation. Jill has held many positions within the City’s corporate structure. She was the first female Manager of St. John’s Memorial Stadium (1994) and the City’s first female Director of Recreation and is the longest standing female Director at the City since 1998. Jill also serves on the board of directors of a number of provincial and national sports organizations including Coaching NL and Diving Canada and is a founding Board Member of STEP St. John’s.

CAAWS is a national non-profit organization dedicated to creating an equitable sport and physical activity system in which girls and women are actively engaged as participants and leaders.
