The National Gives A Real Boost to C.B.S.

The Town of Conception Bay South expects to receive a big boost from the Boost National curling championship when all is said and done. The new C.B.S. Arena is playing host to the Grand Slam of Curling event, which has attracted the top 15 male and female teams on the World Curling Tour.

According to C.B.S. Mayor Terry French, a Grand Slam event typically delivers an average of $1.3 million in economic impact to the area. In addition to direct spending, the region has received immense exposure as a result of live national coverage on Sportsnet and CBC National.

The budget for the event was expected to be at zero cost to the town. Expenditures were anticipated to be $230,000 with matching revenues budgeted. Full event ticket packages sold out in May in just three days
