Rogers Hometown Hockey Coming to St. John’s Feb 7 and 8

Sportsnet in Canada and NHL Network in the U.S. will televise “Rogers Hometown Hockey” on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET. In Canada, the show will be followed by the game between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins. The location this week is St. John’s, Newfoundland, and the half-hour program will celebrate the city’s iconic hockey story.

Among the features airing on the pregame show:

* For more than five decades, “Hockey Night in Canada” broadcaster Bob Cole has brought fans throughout an entire country to the edge of their seats describing the game like nobody else. For many, Cole is the sound of hockey and has provided a one-of-a-kind narrative that has captivated us all.

* St. John’s native Terry Ryan‘s dream came true when the Canadiens chose him with the No. 8 pick of the 1995 NHL Draft. Selected ahead of Jarome Iginla and Jean-Sebastian Giguere, Ryan’s NHL career lasted eight games. We share the story of how a once-promising prospect did not live up to the hype.

* Sarah Davis plays for the Calgary Inferno of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Ready to take the next step for the Inferno and Canada, Davis is part of an up-and-coming group that will lead women’s hockey into the future.
