St. John’s To Host ISC Fastpitch Qualifier

The Ontario-based Hill United Chiefs will play host to an International Softball Congress qualifying softball tournament in St. John’s next July.

The Chiefs, three-time ISC world champions, feature Jason Hill of St. John’s, Brad Ezekiel of Harbour Main and Stephen Mullaley of Freshwater, in addition to Australia’s Adam Folkard, generally regarded as the world’s best fastpitch softball pitcher.It’s the first time this province has staged an ISC qualifier, featuring national team players from Canada, Australia, Argentina and New Zealand.

The Toronto Gators, finalists in the 2015 ICS worlds, are committed to compete. The Gators feature Sean Cleary of Harbour Main, Jeremy O’Reilly of Placentia and Shane and Ryan Boland of St. John’s.

The defending provincial champion Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs are scheduled to play, and will add strenghtening players from the St. John’s Molson Senior Men’s Softball League.
